• Quehanna Bootcamp

The Quehanna Motivational Boot Camp (QBC) is a facility housing both male and female offenders. Inmates in the boot camp undergo a rigid six-month disciplinary and training program that, if successfully completed, results in their immediate release on parole to a 30-day stay at a community corrections center.

    Criteria for Quehanna Boot Camp

    • Sentenced to confinement under the jurisdiction of the DOC.
    • Minimum sentence of not more than 2 years.
    • Maximum sentence of not more than 5 years.
    • Be less than 35 years old.
    • Be classified as a minimum custody level inmate.

    Becoming Eligible

Inmates must meet the above criteria and receive a recommendation from either the sentencing Judge at the time of sentencing or the Department of Corrections (DOC) to be accepted into the QBC program.

If the recommendation is made by the County Judge at sentencing, then registered victims are notified:

    • When the offender is transferred to QBC.
    • In the event the offender fails QBC and is transferred back to a State Correctional Institution.
    • Of the anticipated graduation date and the opportunity to request conditions as part of parole supervision.

If the recommendation is made by the DOC, then registered victims are notified:

    • Of the recommendation and the opportunity to provide input into the judge’s decision.
    • Of the final decision by the DOC.
    • When the offender is transferred to QBC.
    • In the event the offender fails QBC and is transferred back to a State Correctional Institution.
    • Of the anticipated graduation date and the opportunity to request conditions as part of parole supervision.

    The Quehanna Boot Camp Program

During the six-month program, inmates progress through three phases. As inmates reach each successive phase, they are required to take on greater physical and treatment challenges and are exposed to higher levels of discipline. Inmates failing to make the transition from one phase to the next are transferred back to a state correctional institution.
